Do any of you scientists think there's life on other planets?

    Hi Melissa,

I defintely think it's possible that there is life elsewhere in the universe. However, I don't think it is very likely that lifeforms from other planets will look like human beings with funny bumps on their foreheads and pointy ears the way they do on TV shows and in movies. They probably won't speak English either!

There are scientists who are looking for evidence of life elsewhere in the universe. Astronomers working with SETI have been looking for signs of radio signals from intelligent life on other worlds (for more information, try http://www.seti.org/Page.aspx?pid=211). Astrobiologists working for NASA and at universities around the world are looking for other signs of life on other planets, such as evidence of microscopic organisms that can survive in extreme temperatures or that do not need oxygen (for more information, try http://astrobiology.nasa.gov/).
