Orion and the Pleiades are two of the most recognizable groupings of stars in the night sky. They are most prominent in the evening sky in North America from the period of December through May. We’ll describe how these star groups appear in the sky, and how you can find them. We’ll discuss how Maya people have understood and expressed their ideas about Orion and the Pleiades. We’ll summarize the current research being done about objects in this region of the sky. Finally, we will demonstrate an activity and showcase some educational resources that you can use with your audiences to better understand Orion and the Pleiades.
