We only have one star in our solar system--Our Sun.
So all of the known planets around other stars are outside our solar system...And over 300 have already been found..mainly by inference, but there are even a couple of direct images showing tiny black dots (the exoplanets) around other stars.
Kepler's telescope above the Earth's atmosphere will allow us to find many more small rocky planets like Earth. Most of the other exoplanets are big gas giants like Jupiter and Saturn.
