    Melissa W (SA)

We seen some pictures earlier on sunspots, taken back on the 10th of the month. What happened to all of them?

Hello Melissa The Sun has a rotation of about 25 days at the equator so a sunspot that you could see on the disk on the 10th is likely on the back side of the Sun at the moment. Thanks Dawn

Hi Melissa, Also sunspots have a life-time of days to weeks. In addition to hiding back at the farside of the Sun, some of them may have disappeared/died. Sunspots emerge from below the surface of the Sun, and soon begin to decay, the process of which is an active research topic, meaning not fully understood. Yan
