    have any observatories from ancient sites been found to have studied the moon only?

    Good question! Some of the earliest human habitation sites show evidence that the people studied the moon. For example, the Lascaux Cave site in France has paintings that are over 15,000 years old. The paintings show a deer with a series of dots that may represent each night of the moon's phase. -Nancy Ali
